The above image shows the Towers of Vadapalani Temple along with the Temple Tank.
Temple History
God created humans and humans give poojas to the Lord. Devils created diseases which cure the lord by praying with poojas. A devotee of Lord Murugan, Annasamy Naicker who had a chronic disease, visited Murugan abodes to cure his disease. Sadhu who advised Annasamy to start and worship lord Murugan in the house instead of roaming through temples. Annasamy painted a picture of Lord Murugan and worshiped in his house. Later, he got cured and offered his tongue to Thirutani Murugan. Still, he got more affection towards Murugan and continued his spiritual visit towards the southern temple Palani. We have to accept one thing, that when we get to cure a disease, we don't stop to praying God. Annasamy visited the deity of Dhandayuthapani and descending steps. He saw the beautiful picture of Palaniandavan which grabbed his eyes. He bought the picture at his home in Chennai and kept it under the small thatched roof. Annasami used to solve the people problems along with Lord Murugan picture, the words of Annasamy called as Arul Vaaku among the people. Rathinasamy Chettiyar beside Annasamy house, helped to develop the temple which called today Vadapalani Temple shown in the above image.
Analysis of Temple

The Temple started to be built with the help of Rathinasamy Chetiyar around 1865. There are a lot of deities in the temple, including Vinayagar, Chokannathar (Shiva) and Meenakshi. The devotees can get blessings and benefits from Vadapalani Murugan is the same as Palani Murugan. The architecture of the temple shows there is no caste needed for spirituality because the Chettiyar and Naickar were into building the temple. Here, Lord Murugan not only blesses marriage but also for childbirth that what a lot of people tie the cradle in the tree. There are four rajagopuram in the temple, one of the gopuram showing in the above image with gorgeous carvings, we can also see 108 Bharatnatyam dance in eastern tower of the temple. All this stunning information about Vadapalani Temple. I have written here about a Murugan Devotee, Annasamy Naickar who got grabbed with his eyes by a Murugan picture in Palani.
